Board Positions

The Board of Directors is the governing body of the chapter. Board members include the president, president-elect, secretary, treasurer, immediate past president, and three directors-at-large. Each board member is expected to serve on at least one committee.

President
The president presides at all meetings of the chapter and of the board of directors. He/she appoints all committees, with the approval of the board of directors and is an ex-officio member of all committees. He/she also performs all other duties incident to the office. He/she will participate in monthly call with the Southwest District. This position is a one-year term with the possibility of being re-elected.

President-Elect
The president-elect, in the absence or disability of the president, shall exercise the powers and perform the duties of the president. He/she also assists the president and performs such other duties as requested by the board of directors. Assists with the chapter’s board training and candidate recruitment efforts in conjunction with the past president. Prepares to serve as president the following year, if elected. This position is a one-year term with the possibility of being re-elected.

Secretary
The secretary keeps records of all meetings of the chapter and of the board of directors, sends copies of the minutes to the Society Headquarters and to the district chair, issues notices of all meetings, maintains or arranges for the maintenance of the membership roll, and performs all other duties that customarily pertain to the office. This position is a one-year term with the possibility of being re-elected.

Treasurer
The treasurer receives and deposits all chapter funds in a bank or trust company selected and approved by the board of directors. He/she issues receipts and makes disbursements by check after proper approval the president of the board of directors. The treasurer also prepares the chapter’s budget, makes regular financial reports to the board, prepares an annual financial statement for the chapter membership, and performs all other duties incident to the office. This position is a one-year term with the possibility of being re-elected.

Directors-at-Large
These three directors may also serve as committee chairs. They represent the “voice of the membership.” They serve staggered three-year terms and are elected annually by the chapter membership at its annual meeting. Directors may be re-elected.

Immediate Past President
Provides continued support to the board and shares knowledge gained during presidential term. Assists with the chapter’s board training and candidate recruitment efforts in conjunction with the president-elect.

Assembly Delegate
The Assembly delegate must be a member of PRSA. He/she serves as the chapter’s representative at meetings of the PRSA Assembly. The president-elect typically serves as the chapter’s Assembly delegate. If the president-elect is unable to serve as the delegate, the president will select another member to serve. This position is a one-year term.
